me to the other room: “SOCKS YOU’RE ON MY DASH AGAIN”
99% of the time FRIENDLY street cats were once someone’s pet who were dumped on the street. Connor did the right thing by her, taking her in and taking her to the vet. She’ll be much safer inside and with someone who cares for her.
all of us have been unlearning problematic things - it’s really malicious and in bad faith to purposefully dig up old posts by someone that do not reflect their current opinions and attack them over it out of context
Go get rid of your old terrible posts then. If I eat something I don’t keep the wrapper around. I get rid of it.
I have nearly 50,000 posts on my Tumblr blog which I have been running since 2011. It is literally impossible for me to sift through all of that for every single “problematic” post just for fear of some jerk dredging up something I said eight years ago.
And honestly? I shouldn’t anyway. You can literally make the opposite argument: that it’s wrong to hide your past. If we all keep pretending that ideological purity is possible and erasing the journeys we’ve gone though to learn from mistakes and become better, more educated people I feel like that does more harm than good.
Anyway, your attitude is victim blaming. We should not normalize a culture of fear where everyone is desperate to hide their flaws because someone might start a harassment campaign against them. The solution is ending that culture, not saddling people with the burden of dealing with it.
I literally don’t understand what broadway and Disney aren’t understanding when we say we DON’T WANT REMAKES. Like yes, the Disney ones are still making money but the train is very evidently slowing down. Everyone I’m talking to says they don’t want to see a remake anymore, and won’t bother seeing them because they’re tired and blatant cash grabs. They’re getting poor reviews too.
Anything with Disney’s name on it will make $$$. So why not just…make a new movie? It’s not like Moana or Zootopia were flops in any sense. Pixar is stopping the sequel train and people are EXCITED. People are GOING TO SEE IT. People are THANKING Pixar. LISTENING TO WHAT PEOPLE WANT REAPS BENEFITS.
But let’s talk Broadway. ____: The Musical has been happening for roughly a decade, but the last 2-3 years have been waaaay over saturated with them. Most of them get poor reviews. Almost all of them get snubbed at the Tonys (rightfully so or not is for you to decide). Broadway is a business, and they think they can rely on an easy, familiar property and make money off of it. But the thing is, they can’t.
Broadway consumers want originality. They want art. They want diversity. Yes, there are plenty of young fans, and the audience is evolving, but the reality is a lot of older people go to Broadway shows and they want something new and artistic, something that makes you think. And ____: The Musical never does that.
You could argue that these shows draw in younger crowds. It’s a good thing, right? Bringing young people to Broadway? Original shows already do that. The Hadestown/DEH/BMC/Great Comet fandoms speak for themselves. (Just a note: this epidemic is not about adaptations in general (books plays, mythology, etc.). Those have been around literally since the birth of theatre. I know GC and BMC were based off books. But they weren’t adapted to flash the name of its source like ____: The Musical does, to only bank on recognition. To be a two hour wink the audience with references like those shows do. I even give a pass to Waitress because most people don’t even know it’s a movie and mainly associate it with the show)
But what’s important to the machines at Broadway is money, right? Well, let’s take a look at that.
Shows that opened in the last few years that are still running without a set closing date:
-Dear Evan Hansen, an original musical with no real basis at all (super rare, even in the grand scheme of theatre).
-Hamilton, an original musical known for being a musical that took the world by storm.
-Come From Away, a true story, an original musical.
-Hadestown, with a myth for a source material but takes it to a completely new realm.
Shows that are closing or already closed?
-King Kong: The Musical
-Pretty Woman: The Musical
-School of Rock: The Musical
-The Cher Show
-Spongebob: The Musical
And every show that’s older and still running? Book of Mormon, Phantom, Chicago. You guessed it- all original (look back at the note, all you pHANTom wAS A boOK people)
Yes, Mean Girls is successful and BMC and The Prom are closing, among others in either party. But there is a PATTERN. People want the magic of theatre. They don’t want soulless cash grabs. Don’t get me wrong, some of these shows can and do have artistic merit and can be fun to watch. But nothing beats theatre that transforms you, that moves you, taking something never-before-seen and bringing it to life. That’s what people buy tickets for- on stage, and in movie theaters.
So I implore you, big wigs and suits everywhere: listen to your audience. It’s our money you want, you have to give us what we want.
I still don’t get how people don’t see Amber Heard as an abuser even though there’s enough evidence out there to prove it or has society really conditioned itself that women are saints that we can do anything because all men are scum?
Toxic feminism has a lot to answer for and I’ve always hated this idea that we ignore men because of statistics etc Yes the stats for women are higher than male victims but how many men don’t report abuse or rape because of the stigma we put upon it?
If you don’t know what toxic feminism is google it there are quite a few decent articles about it. Feminism is supposed to be about equality right? So stop letting women get away with shit just because of their gender especially if you wouldn’t let a man get away with it. Abuse is abuse and isn’t defined by gender and if you don’t get that then I feel sorry for you.
This is why I support Johnny. Yes he may be a famous film star etc but he’s still a human being and Amber took him for granted, used and abused him and I don’t get how people can not see it. I still can’t get my head around the idea that she actually shit in his bed and then was like “it was a joke” like wtf how can you even normalise that? That’s not to say everything else she did wasn’t as bad but I’m not surprised that Johnny dumped her ass after that.
I think I’m going to write more about this on my actual website later today I’ve been trying to write a post for a while but not been happy with the way it was going so may use this as a starting point.
One last thing supporting men isn’t a crime don’t be afraid to speak out just because some people think they have a right to dictate and control how we should think when honestly they don’t and yes you could say I’m quite done with it.
Havoc:
So now I'm supposed to do anything that Hawkeye does? What if she jumped off a cliff?
Roy:
If Hawkeye were to jump off a cliff, she would have done her due diligence regarding the height of the cliff, the depth of the water, and the angle of entry
